Job Overview

We are hiring a Permanent Data Cabling Engineer to support the delivery of structured cabling and network infrastructure projects across commercial buildings in Birmingham and the West Midlands. The ideal candidate will have experience installing Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fibre optic cabling in office, retail, healthcare, education, and mixed-use commercial environments.

This is an excellent long-term opportunity for an engineer looking to work on stable, regionally based projects within a growing business focused on commercial data cabling installations, network infrastructure, and structured cabling systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test Cat5e / Cat6 / Cat6A structured cabling systems
  • Install and maintain fibre optic cabling (including splicing and testing where required)
  • Fit containment (tray, trunking, basket, conduit) in line with spec and site plans
  • Read and interpret site drawings, floor plans, and cabling schematics
  • Collaborate with site supervisors, project managers, and other trades
  • Work on commercial properties such as offices, schools, hospitals, and retail units
  • Comply with health & safety standards and follow risk assessments

 

Skills & Requirements

  • Proven background in structured cabling installation and network cable terminations
  • Experience working on commercial construction or fit-out projects
  • Ability to work to deadlines while maintaining quality
  • Valid ECS or CSCS card (preferred)
  • IPAF or PASMA (advantageous)
  • Full UK driving licence
