Job Description:
Our client requires and experienced Data Cabling Engineer to work as part of a team taking on multiple responsibilities within a critical Data Centre environment. The successful candidate will work closely with customers and internal staff with the installation, fault finding and day to day change activities on the customers network. Previous structured cabling experience is essential and data centre experience is desirable however full training can be provided in support of this.
 
Role and responsibilities:
  • Provide assistance for moves, adds, and changes
  • Perform structured network cable infrastructure installation, termination, testing, and documentation completion
  • Conduct fibre and copper patching for server hardware, network switches, architecture, and storage devices.
  • Offer support and troubleshooting
  • Manage databases.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met
 
Shift Pattern:            
4 on 4 off - 24/7 shift pattern
  • 07:30am To 17:30pm
  • 15:30pm To 01:30am
  • 18/19:00pm To 04/05:00am - Flexible
  • 22:00pm To 08:00am

Skills and Experience
Essential:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in structured cabling network infrastructure, both copper and fibre.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in identifying and resolving faults in structured cabling and voice systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a customer-centric approach.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
 
Preferred but not essential:
  • Prior experience working in a data centre environment would be beneficial, although training will be provided.
  • Experience in moves, adds, and changes (MAC) is advantageous,
  • Experience using a call management ticketing system, preferably Service First
