Structured Cabling Engineer – Build Your Career in Data & Fibre – Derby OpportunityÂ
We are seeking motivated engineers to strengthen our nationwide delivery team. This opportunity is open to all levels of experience — from those just starting out in the industry to highly skilled cabling specialists. With structured training and support, you’ll have the chance to develop and progress through the ranks, from entry-level right up to senior engineer and project lead.
Â
What You’ll Be Doing
Your work will vary depending on your experience, but expect to be hands-on with projects such as:
- Installing and testing Cat6/Cat6a and fibre optic networks
- Building containment systems – basket, tray, trunking, conduit
- Supporting technology installs (Wi-Fi, UPS, AV)
- Working on diverse sites: manufacturing plants, offices, warehouses, data centres, and secure facilities
- Travelling to project locations across the UK (overnight stays when required)
For senior engineers: lead surveys, manage small teams, take ownership of project delivery, and act as the client’s main point of contact.
Â
Why This Role Stands Out
- Established Employer: Over 30 years in the cabling and telecommunications sector, trusted by industries from Defence to Healthcare
- Career Pathway: Clear progression route with training that supports you from entry level through to project leadership
- Employee Benefits: From company vehicles to life assurance and private GP access
- Employee-Owned: Every team member has a stake in the company’s success
- Unique Exposure: Opportunities to work on high-profile military and defence sites (Security Clearance a distinct advantage)
Â
What We’re Looking For
- Practical experience in copper/fibre installations (or the willingness to learn at entry level)
- A valid CSCS/ECS card
- A driving licence and willingness to travel
- Safety-first mindset (IPAF, PASMA an advantage)
- Flexible and reliable – someone who takes pride in quality work
Bonus points if you have:
- SC Security Clearance (or the ability to gain it) – this will give you access to military and defence site projects
- CNCI certification
- Previous exposure to defence, manufacturing, or data centre environments
Â
The Package
- Competitive pay that reflects your skills and level
- 40 hours per week (07:30–16:30 core hours, with flexibility when projects demand)
- 22 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Workplace pension with employer contributions
- Employee health and wellbeing perks (EAP, GP24, cycle scheme, eye tests, flu jabs)
